Attendance Statement

All Aboard Nursery are committed to promoting good levels of attendance, enabling our children to fully engage with all opportunities offered to them.

Research shows that good attendance in an early years setting has a lasting impact on children’s learning and development. Regular attendance is important for children to build consistent routines that help children to feel settled and secure and support building relationships with adults that work with them.

At All Aboard Nursery we promote good attendance by:

• Asking parents to call, text or email if they are going to be late or absent. Giving the reason why their child is going to be absent. Before 9.30am if their child attends a morning or all day session and by 12.30pm if their child attends the afternoon.

• Ringing parents if we have not heard from them by 10am for a morning or all day session or 1pm for an afternoon session, to find out why their child is absent.

• Ringing the contact details and emergency contacts if we cannot make contact with a parent after 3 days of their child being absent.

• Seeking advice from Contact Swindon if we are concerned about the welfare if a child.

• Monitoring and following up on poor attendance.

Holidays During Term Time

As we are not compulsory education parents are entitled to take children out of nursery for holidays during term time. We ask that parents give us holiday dates in advance so we can mark them in the register. Holidays of more than 4 weeks will effect a child’s funding as the nursery cannot claim funding for a child they have not seen for 4-weeks. Therefore your child’s place at All Aboard Nursery cannot be guaranteed for extended breaks.

Children Missing from Nursery

If a child goes missing from All Aboard Nursery without parents informing us that their child will be absent for any reason, the nursery will try to establish the location of the child and satisfy itself that there are no safeguarding concerns. If after making reasonable enquiries the location of the child cannot be found the nursery will consider if there is a risk the child could be at harm. If they believe this is the case than a referral to Contact Swindon will be made.
